My Obsidian vault was getting slow to load. It only has about 4300 notes. I'm now doing a test where I turned Restricted Mode back on (Settings -> Community Plugins -> Restricted Mode turn on and reload). This disables all your Community Plugins and reloads Obsidian. For good measure I restarted Obsidian a couple of times. Then I turned Community Plugins back on. So far, so good and loading is much faster. techlifeweb.com/blog/2026/06/p

Has anybody seen Google ask you to run a Powershell script? I was browsing, it said something needed to be checked because of network activity and asked me to run a script. Nope, not doing that. Nothing looked to me to indicate it wasn't from Google.

Rating Scale

I quite like Steph Ango's system of rating 1 to 7 so I'm adopting it. It is more granular than 1 to 5 and 1 to 10 is too many.

  • 7 — Perfect, must try, life-changing, go out of your way to seek this out
  • 6 — Excellent, worth repeating
  • 5 — Good, don’t go out of your way, but enjoyable
  • 4 — Passable, works in a pinch
  • 3 — Bad, don’t do this if you can
  • 2 — Atrocious, actively avoid, repulsive
  • 1 — Evil, life-changing in a bad way
