| Thu, 03 Sep 2026 17:34:21 +0000TIL about ".home.arpa" top-level domain (RFC 8375) for your home LAN domain. I never bothered setting up a domain on my home router. Giving this a try to help name resolution. There are arguments for using a real domain that you've purchased doing something like .lan.myrealdomainname.com so the you don't have to worry about certs and browsing just "works" but I'll give this a try first just to test the waters. FAFO as they say.

I quite like Steph Ango's system of rating 1 to 7 so I'm adopting it. It is more granular than 1 to 5 and 1 to 10 is too many.
- 7 — Perfect, must try, life-changing, go out of your way to seek this out
- 6 — Excellent, worth repeating
- 5 — Good, don’t go out of your way, but enjoyable
- 4 — Passable, works in a pinch
- 3 — Bad, don’t do this if you can
- 2 — Atrocious, actively avoid, repulsive
- 1 — Evil, life-changing in a bad way
