4 minute post

I’m not usually into the would you rather game, but this one on Mastodon caught my attention. We were asked to choose which we preferred: an AI-generated poster, or a poster made by hand but set in Comic Sans. Argh! What a choice!! Before you click on that link to find out the results, have a good guess which you think 98% of people voted for, and most importantly, why.

We really need some balance on the topic of AI. I don't use it to write my posts, but I don't condemn those who do when they approach it like Elizabeth Tai does.

Whether it's AI or fonts, we'll make better, happier progress when we focus the bulk of our attention on progressing down our own path.

Be an activist if that's what you feel called to, but focus your attacks on the system, not the sincere individuals who don't share your concerns. We are, each of us, deeply flawed humans on our own journeys. The sum of your life has led to the choices (choices you are sure are right) that you are making today. This also applies to those who disagree with you.

You can read the full (nearly) 4-minute post for free on my blog, or on Medium (I receive a small portion of the $5 a month membership fee of those who read it there).
