Good morning, it's Friday, June 19, and Juneteenth. The presidential center of former President Barack Obama is officially open to the public.

Need To Know

Obama Center Opens

The Obama Presidential Center opens to the public today, nearly five years after construction began. Former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama were joined at a dedication ceremony yesterday by three former presidents and several celebrities. See who was there.

The 19-acre campus is in Chicago's South Side, where Obama began his political career as a community organizer. The anchor point—a granite tower designed to evoke four hands joining and reaching skyward—houses a museum honoring Obama's legacy with a full-scale replica of his Oval Office (see here). The campus, which also includes a public library, athletic facilities, and gardens, was constructed with $850M in private donations and will be maintained by the Obama Foundation.

President Franklin D. Roosevelt established the first presidential library in 1939, setting a precedent that every president since has followed. Obama's is the first with an online-only archive, as roughly 95% of his administration's records are digital-native. Explore the 13 other completed presidential centers here.

To the Tablet … and Beyond

“Toy Story 5” premieres in theaters today, as Disney and Pixar revisit one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises with a story for the digital age. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack reprise Woody, Buzz, and Jessie, reuniting the gang 31 years after the original.

The film follows now-8-year-old Bonnie, whose new companion Lilypad, a tablet-like device, pulls her attention away from her toys, turning playtime into a battle between imagination and screens. The premise taps into a familiar reality: Nearly 60% of children have a tablet by age 4, and kids under 8 average almost three hours of daily screen time. The franchise, launched in 1995 as the first fully computer-animated feature film, has grossed more than $3B worldwide and generates over $1B annually in retail sales. Analysts are projecting a $145M to $150M opening weekend, which would top “Toy Story 4” ($120M).

Did you know Woody and Jessie share the last name Pride? Tom Hanks didn't. See the nostalgic toys that inspired the characters here.

Robin Hood Tree Dies

The 1,200-year-old Major Oak, a tree linked to legendary bandit Robin Hood, appears to have died, a UK conservation group revealed yesterday. The Sherwood Forest tree failed to produce leaves this spring, and the root system appears to be strangled. See it here.

According to legend, the medieval-era outlaw used its hollowed-out trunk as a hideout to avoid the sheriff of Nottingham. However, historians largely agree Robin Hood was no single, living person; the story began as an oral tradition in the 12th century, with the first written ballads coming two centuries later. Did he steal from the rich to give to the poor? That narrative has also evolved over the centuries. See a trailer for the latest adaptation, out today.

The tree may have died due to old age, climate, and efforts to support its branches that counterintuitively backfired. About 350,000 people visit the tree each year, further weakening soil health.

Your Dog Deserves Better Food

![](https://images.chamaileon.io/603e31c9224efc2a1990854e/606c607893b338d4cb56874f/1781721368702_sundays_primary-workmark_green logo.jpg)

You've probably heard the saying, "you are what you eat." If that's true for us, why wouldn't it be true for our dogs? The food in their bowl matters—which is why more dog parents are taking a closer look at what's actually in their dog's food.

Sundays for Dogs was created by Dr. Tory, a veterinarian who wanted something better for her own dog Mabel than heavily processed kibble. The result is a jerky-style dog food made from human-grade meats, fruits, and vegetables. It's gently air-dried to help preserve natural flavor and nutrients, with no fillers, artificial preservatives, meat meals, or synthetic additives. Simply pour it into a bowl and watch your pup devour it—no fridge, no prep, and no cleanup required. It's the easiest way to feed your dog better. And the taste? In a third-party taste test, Sundays beat kibble 39-0.

Try the Sundays Challenge and let your pup decide between Sundays and your current dog food. Enjoy 50% off your first order with code 1440DOGS.
